What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

 

Truthfully, the most inspirational thing I've seen this month is not design related.
I saw Roller Derby and its the most awesome thing ever, go watch it! The girls will amaze you! They certainly amazed me.

 

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011

 

My co-workers kept telling me that I would really like this band called Hello Seahorse. They were right. 

 

Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

 

I'll just be honest here, I'm a Virgo and therefore a health freak.
My favorite thing to force on loved ones is Kale Juice.
I throw kale in the juicer with green apples, carrots and ginger.
Looks disgusting but tastes great and your body will love you for nourishing it. 

 

 

What is your favourite smell this month ?

 

Sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting. No way I'll eat them but damn they smell great. ok, maybe I'll have one, just one.

 

 

What home interior updates did you make this year ?

 

Sometimes in the furniture business its hard not to take stuff home.
It must be similar to what an animal lover working at the humane society feels.
I went to a girls house to pick up furniture she wanted to sell and she had a framed illustration of a cheerful little whale swimming in the sea.
I loved it so much it caused my heart to elevator drop.
She sold it to me, its in my living room now and it makes my heart happy every time I see it.

What is the most inspirational thing you saw in December ?

Spending the weekend at the Made by Hand Wales craft fair at Tredegar House in Newport was extremely inspirational
Exploring the stands and seeing work from a wide range of disciplines has given me tonnes of ideas !

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you were listening to throughout 2011

There has been so much great music this year but lately I've been stuck like glue to Friendly Fires' new album Pala
and most of my summer was taken up by Basement Jaxx vs Metropole Orkest

Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

Recently I've started making beans on cheese on toast (not to be confused with beans on toast with cheese on top) for lunch
Seriously, it's amazing. Apart from that I don't really have anything to add 
That's about how adventurous I am in the kitchen, though I do love good food

What is your favourite smell this month ?

I love the smell after there's been a massive downpour and the sun comes out ..... That and bacon

What home interior updates did you make in 2011 ?

Last year I moved my whole self up to Nottingham which was a pretty big change
One change I made last month was to rearrange all furniture for optimum Playstation playing and DVD watching

Combing an obsession with fashion with a love of anything cute (particularly animals),
our first collection consisted of fashionably cut tees, snuggly soft tops and vests that appealed to all styles and shapes

Each season the Brat and Suzie collections progress as we introduce more styles and prints and have expanded our signature style to dresses, shirts and skirts

 

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

We just met a great new illustrator called Ashley Le Quere who also makes jewellery

I loved it so much I’ve asked her to work with us on new things very soon!

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011

I  don’t usually buy much new music. But went to see the film Drive recently

and loved the sound track so much I bought it when I got home

The best song on the album by far is ‘Night Call’ by Kavinsky and Love Boxxx

 

 Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

Spinach Soup-  Its warms you up in the winter and its bright green so it looks so healthy in the a bowl!

It has to be Mulled Wine as Christmas is just around the corner

 

What home interior updates did you make this year ?

I rent so there is not much we can do with our flat

I did buy a great writing desk on Brick Lane a couple of months ago

Its being used more a drink cabinet though and hasn’t see much writing action

Hi, I'm Peet Leather and I've just returned from a wonderful weekend of hat selling
at Made by Hand in Tredegar House, Newport where I met Dommie

 

 

Loved the warm Welsh welcome and all the hat play on my stand -
expect to see lots of distinctive Peet Leather hats in the Newport area - really hope to return next year

 

Lots of truly exciting and inspirational work on the other stands too ...

 

 

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

 

Not been out because of mad hat production so -
my daughter's photographs and paintings for our recent show
(Ejan Dalal Hahn - see www.redpropeller.co.uk) - she constantly excites 

 

 

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011

 

Loving Johnny Cash - anything - it's kept me in full-on Hat production .. 
and driven everyone out of my workroom 

Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

 

Chicken pot-stewed whole with dill mmm - would love to know the recipe but my lovely Polish friend won't divulge

 

What is your favourite smell this month ?

 

Cumin - just seems to warm everything up and makes a soup so much richer

What home interior updates did you make this year ?

 

I painted three rooms in clay paint (Earthborn) ready for our Art Trail -
so good you could eat it and roll in it... transformed our home into a gorgeous and stylish one - we think

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

Whilst exhibiting at Made by Hand last weekend I met a fantastic your designer Michael Lomax
who makes the most whimsical paper cuts.

Whats even more amazing is that they are all done by hand,
not a single laser cutter in sight!

Taste - Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

I make a mean cottage pie and it always tastes better reheated the day after with fresh green beans... nom nom





Smell - What is your favourite smell this month ?

Pineapple... there is a specialist binder in textile printing used for flocks and foils that wiffs of them

 Bizare I know but it's my favourite smell right now

  

 



Touch - What home interior updates did you make this year ?
I've recently made space for more of my studio equipment in an attempt to be more organised.

and tell you of the things that are making me happy right now .....

 

 

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

Well it wasn't this month
but when I was in London on the grand front entrance of the V&A
there was a beautiful structure sweeping out from the building
AL_A's 12m high 'Timber Wave' part of the London Design week,
I love the construction and the way the wood is left to do the talking

 

 

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011 ?

I have been loving listening to chilled out Benjamin Francis Leftwich,
Ben Howard, Bombay Bicycle Club, Lemon Jelly, Michael Kiwanuka and Fink

 

Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

oh I have been enjoying making pies out of the Pieminster book.... the fishy ones are delicious

 

Smell - What is your favorite smell this month ?

You can't beet the smell of a log fire and I have been roasting many chestnuts like a little squirrel !
My fav perfume is Stella McCartney its beautiful I have worn it for years but never bore of it

Touch - What home interior updates did you make this year ?

Ummm this is a hard one to even start.... I move the furniture all the time!
My collection of furniture is getting rather large! I have a sort out at least every two months.
Its nice having a fresh feel and new look.
The walls are always white.... let the objects you love do the talking!

Blogging is such a passion of mine
a little sanctuary, a place I can waffle to the world and my own creative hug

I tend to fall in and out of love versus utter obsession with blogging
and now I have found a natural rhythm
(I used to fret a little about blogging daily - the trick is to do it as and when time and inspiration allows)

I also find it is really important to keep a bank of bloggers at hand
that you can pop on over and read about
get excited for them and make them the catalyst to get your fingers typing and chatting

I tend not to admit to having number ones
at it can make the twos and threes etc seem like second, third best
BUT
If I had to take ONE blog to a desert island
with Depeche Mode, Photos, Haribo, Cheese and Nag Champa

Hello I'm Lulu from Lulu Locket Photography.
Yes that's me on the left with my swirly hair band (which I have now lost, sigh!) 

OK, first thing's first ..... the lowdown on Lulu

I am a wife and a mummy to a beautiful little girl (if I don't say so myself!)

working in the Hampshire/Surrey region.

I have a fledgling photography business specialising in families,

portraits, vintage/retro shoots and the odd wedding for very special people!

I just love photographing, so much so that I am barely without my camera these days -
it is literally attached to my hip!

One of my favourite subjects is my daughter Imogen Grace,
who has been photographed literally since the moment she popped out!

 

See - What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ? 

 

Well that would have to be the moment my 4 month old baby girl rolled over for the first time,
oh and when she finally finished her pumpkin puree!
You see it's the little victories in life!

I adore Lana Del Ray like many people out there right now
as well as Christina Perri and her very large 'Jar of Hearts'.
Jewel is an all time love affair for me, been listening to her since a nipper!

Taste - Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

 

Yes I do in fact!
Mary Berry's flapjack recipe!
My goodness, this is pure heaven in a flapjack!
Devilishly sweet and bad for the waistline but what the heck!

Flapjack recipe by Mary Berry mmmh!

 

225g (8oz) margerine
225g (8oz) demerara sugar
75g (3oz) golden syrup
275g (10oz) rolled oats.
method
grease 2, 8 inch tins (20cm)

put margerine, sugar and golden syrup into a medium saucepan
and heat gently untill the margerine is melted and the butter is dissolved.
remove from the heat and stir in the oats.
press firmly into the greased tins. press down with a sppon to level the surface.
cook for 30 mins at 160 degrees/325 F/ gas mark 3.
cook untill just golden brown, do not over bake or they will be hard.
when cooked, loosen the edge of the flap jack around the tin
and leave to cool for 10 mins.
then cut and cool on wire racks.

What is your favourite smell this month ? 

My Favourite smell this month is 'Eau de Senteur' by Nivea for babies!

I used to wear a lot of perfume before I fell pregnant,
but since giving birth I can't quite handle the strength of most perfumes!
This is such a mild gloriously scented water which I spray on my arms and neck -
t'is very refreshing!

Touch - What home interior updates do you have planned this year ?

 

I wish I could say I have interior design plans this year, but alas no!
Not until we move out of our little Victorian house and into our first family home
somewhere in Hampshire.
Imagine a lovely terraced property with a small garden, apple trees
and a lovely old English country kitchen and you have my dream house!

then look no further than this little gem of a shop in Alton .....

We are both pretty happy with the state our homes are at right now,
so we are focusing our creative energy on our new shop

We are currently in a shop now,

and most importantly work our magic with an amazing display in our big new window!
