Super Excited now !!!!!

It is hours until the big moment
and with a barrage of news updates here in the UK
I am extremely in the mood now
for THE wedding of the year

As promised I will now be sending updates of the beautiful couple's big day
and I will be chatting about stories through history
that add to the magic of this right Royal occasion

I hope that you enjoy our journey through time
the next few hours and beyond

It is said that Queen Victoria started the trend of exquisite wedding dresses

 As we know - one of THE biggest questions is
WHAT WILL THE DRESS BE LIKE
which thanks to Queen Victoria I guess
has added to the HUGE decision of what dress to wear

With an estimated 2 billion people watching
so that is roughly 4 billion eyes
YIKES !!!!!
Kate must have had the choice of a lifetime to make

I know that I among so many others
cannot wait to see the dress
( I am not a girly girl at all but I have been swept up in this dress malarkey )

So now I am going to meander through the years
and see some of the stunning dresses
styles, symbolism and trends that brides set and millions have loved and emulated

 

Queen Elizabeth's dress was that befitting a future Queen
and the dress was interwoven with symbolism and dignity

 

Princess Margaret was allowed to exude her film star quality when she married
and I feel, even down to her choice of make up - red lips - wow
she has such iconic beauty and I have to say that I think that this is my favourite image

 

Princess Grace - A film star with a heavenly Royal beauty

 

In 1950 Audrey Hepburn set the camera's alight and a style all of her own

Gosh - She was sooooo stunning !!!!!

 

In stark contrast
Cilla Black went for a very short dark dress for her wedding day in the 1960's

 

For Princess Anne it was all about the sleeves in the 1970's and a romantic simplicity

 

Princess Diana and THAT dress in the 1980's

 

I can remember vividly watching her getting out of that carriage
and that never ending train
and how the dress really did set a weath of designers to work
recreating and replicating that style of dress for a whole decade

 

Dresses became more and more romantic .....

 

and strapless .....

 

and even on TV/Film it was all about that dress choice

oooooh - I cannot WAIT to see what Kate has chosen

They say that Prince William will wear his Irish Guards Scarlet Tunic

 

I think Wills is awesome !!!!!

One Week to Go !!!!! >.<

 

I am rather excited
with one week to go - I have lots planned before the big day
and I will be writing about all of my finds
and stunning stories of yester year over the next few days

I found myself this afternoon
watching Blue Peter while I had a quick visit from the gas man
just to test I am safe and sound in my little nest

I have not watched Blue Peter for yonks
and as a Blue Peter badge winner
for designing a garden eons ago
( ..... sadly I have NO idea where that little badge is now)
I was so happy to watch the results for the Blue Peter competition
for the Diamond Jubilee Logo

I rather wished I could have entered
but alas there did not seem to be a category for 37 year olds
he he

They announced the winner today
(logo above)
and I thought how fabby it would be
to be that little girl
who would see her logo all over the UK
at this bubbling exciting time

I never thought I was a very Royal type until the last five years
and with a Royal Wedding to 'attend' in April along with the rest of the world
and a Jubilee and Olympics to follow
I hope
these economic testing and tough times for the world
hold very exciting times of unity and wonderful memories

I will from time to time be dipping into all things Britain and Royal
as I am adoring the vision for our future
