My First Upcycling Project - PROPER !!!

 

Vintage is a word I use a lot

Shabby Chic - more times in a day than I care to imagine

BUT

Upcycling ... Ten, Twenty, Th..... LOTS !!!

 

Upcycling is my massive passion

I have always had a fascination with making use of objects, adding some magic to make them prettier

Not so much inventing but reinventing

 

I have decided, or more it has come upon me that I am going to build up part of my business on pure love, calm and time

I am going to make myself feel no hurry as I can with other projects

I will find furniture, paint, accessories - store them safely away, and when I have time I will enjoy Upcycling at leisure

 

YES, these items are going to find their way into my shop, but at a calmer pace

 

My first project was this weekend, a bedside cabinet that a dear friend gave to me

I think this spurred me on as I felt I wanted to make my chum happy with how his furniture could look - thanks CH !!!

 

Into my garage, tunes on - with goodness knows how many radios I have always loved this teeny daft one - old habits eh

I started to apply the paint

 

In some ways I have zero patience but for some reason with creative jobs I am a fusspot and can take hours getting things just so

 

So - painting - thin layers over and over - some breaks in between to let the paint dry and a catch up on other projects - so therapeutic

 

The door knobs I placed into foam over metal gauze so I could paint the knobs turning them with the brush at the same time and letting them dry in between - HANDY TIP !!!

 

 

When all was painted I got a smaller brush to finish off - wrapped the paint tray in a plastic bag and brushes in cling film

 

This morning bright and early I popped down to see the end result ... A few fusspot areas of touching up and ...

 

TA DAH !!!

The roses paper I spray mounted on when I had taken the knobs off and then popped them back on

 

 

The end result made me smile

 

A few photos later and this first project is now available in my shop

 

The reaction from my chums has been truly uplifting

I will be making some more Upcycled pieces time allowing and hoping obviously they are liked enough to sell and find new homes

 

I have to say I had a thoroughly enjoyable time
