I have just completed an interview with LA at Freckled Nest

This lovely lady is compiling a poll to put together a guide to blogging

I should have added my thoughts to my blog long ago as I have been at this gig for a while now
so - in my humble opinion - here are my blog thoughts that I posted with LA this morning .....

sitting here in the uk with a cosy coffee
and it is waaaaay too early in the day for most people to be up -
so all it quiet and calm outside and i rather feel like i have stolen a little piece of the day -
JUST for me ;)

so here goes ..... here are my humble thoughts on blogging and reading blogs .....

1. What makes a great blog?

someone who has a passion/love in their heart for something/s and a smile in their words

i LOVE to see inside someone's world by being gently invited in
rather than having a blog that is all me me me -
wonderful bloggers that i have stuck with also pull in the world around them
and document everything and everyone that touches them in life

i guess what i am saying is -
the person who starts writing the blog for me is
rather like a shiny pebble dropped into the sea (on a sunny day eating ice cream)
and that the ripples that start to move out are the begginnings of their finds/journeys/passions
that we happy read about

2. What's important to you in a blog and it's posts?

i tend to like short posts -
we are all so busy today -
i think whether we like it or not we tend to information snack

i love a blog to be very visual

i LOVE to see home/craft makeovers

it is nice for a blog to have a rhythm (i am TRYING to do this)
i.e. to post everyday/every other day/every week .....
this makes it easier to know when to dip in and out to read the blog

3. What irks you? What do you love to see?

irk -
too personal -
everyone is stunning in their own way but sometimes blogs can be too me me me -
i like the balance of the person and the world around them

love -
i love to see a person/their business/life change and develop
as i read over the days/months/years

4. What tips would you give a friend whose new to having a blog?

just have a go - there is no right or wrong way
when i look back my blog was sooooo different to how i write now -
yes i tend not to write too much about bad days
but also i do not try to sound too chirpy or funny -
i just write as me and that is so much easier and comforting
and now i finally after many years feel i have found my groove -
even though i sometimes still imagine i am carrie from SATC >.<

5. What's YOUR favorite part of blogging?

sharing my passion - vintage !!!!! and i just live to write -
i talk alot so i guess i write alot
i find writing VERY therapeutic -
plus to save people (ha ha) they can listen to me and my ramblings IF they want to

6. What's your biggest challenge in blogging?

making time -
there are SO many things i love to do
that my nearest and dearest will tell you i will exhaust myself
sometimes you have to just put the computer away and go for a walk
or just curl up and have a snooze -
computers are AMAZING - BUT - they can zap your energy so go easy on them

sometimes i store up images and stories on my computer and notebooks
and have a blog hour and get everthing out of my system and schedule the stories to run -
rather like a blog date once or twice a week

7. What keeps you coming back to a blog?

i guess - and i really do not mean this in a spookey way -
is that a good blog lets you get to 'know' the person/business well enough
that you do care about how they are getting on and want to know more
sometimes a person/business is hitting an exciting time
and just like a new chapter in a book you want to turn the page and read on

as i said before -
I LOVE all things creative and although i am working on a 48 hour day to fit everything in -
until then - i love to read blogs of people who make and create things
that i just do not have time to fit into my world

i guess above all - it is just nice to know that people are generally rather fantastic
and blogs are just windows to peek into in this BIG house that we all live in - OUR WORLD
