I have had this Take Five interview from Twinkie Chan
stored on my computer for what feels like forever
I was over the moon that this little lady contacted me - after I dropped her an e-mail
to tell me that - OH YES !!!!! she was putting together her answers .....
and now it gives me so much pleasure to introduce
Miss Fun Fun Fun, Creativity and inspiration .....
Over to you Miss C (you are just THE best !!!!!) .....
Hi, everyone! I'm Twinkie Chan.
I live in San Francisco with my boyfriend "Hairy," my two adorable doggies, and a wall full of yarn.
I've been crocheting fun, food-themed scarves since 2005.
I wanted cute scarves that I couldn't find anywhere else,
so I made them myself, and now I make them for you!
I worked in publishing for 10 years, helping writers make their dreams come true.
Last year, I took a risk and left my job to try and make my own dreams come true,
and I'm excited to announce that I will soon be launching my mass line called
"Yummy You!"
which should hit select boutiques all over the world and online by Fall of this year.
Yummy You! will include a lot of my most popular scarves and mitts,
and a TON of brand new, never-seen-before, t-shirts and hoodies.
Also in November, my book "Twinkie Chan's Crochet Goodies For Fashion Foodies:
20 Yummy Treats to Wear" will come out! I'm so pumped to bring you guys some neato stuff!

Here are my answers to dommie's five questions .....
SIGHT
1. What is the most inspirational thing you have seen recently ?
I've been watching movies and documentaries about autism lately.
I find it so fascinating, the different ways that people's brains can work and communicate,
and there's so much we still don't know.
Check out the movie "Temple Grandin" that just came out starring Claire Danes,
based on a true story and a really neat lady!
As for visual art... someone turned me on to this yarny food art by Ed Bing Lee,
and I think it's really cool because it's KNOTTED yarn, not knitted or crocheted.

HEAR
2. Tell us about a new tune/artist that has had you dancing and smiling
I have to be honest.
I have the TV on these days more than I have the stereo or iTunes.
It's also really difficult for me to like anything that people might deem "good."
My days of going to indie rock shows and standing around for 3-4 hours are over!
Now I listen to stuff that I think is funny and SUPER pop-y, like Justin Bieber!!
Okay, I don't really listen to Justin Bieber,
but that the fact that he exists is just so hilarious and awesome to me.
On a more serious note, I would recommend an oldie but goodie:
the band Kitty Craft.
Their album "Catskills" came out in 2000 and I used to listen to it non-stop.
It's pop-y, glittery, pretty, and mellow, and I think makes for a great spring-time listen!
TASTE
3. Do you have any yummy recipes/food finds you wish to share ?
I know that everything I make looks like food...
but I actually don't know how to cook at all!
BUT, Hairy just made kale chips for the first time, and I LOVE THEM.
I love me a cookie, but when you need a savory snack,
these kale chips are AWESOME and good for you! Check out this simple recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Kale-Chips/Detail.aspx.
They taste really good if you add sesame seeds, too!
SMELL
4. Spring - THE best season (I think) - what smell has lifted your heart ?
This is going to sound weird, but i LOVE the smell of my dog Bibi.
She's half Basset Hound and can sometimes get a very hound-y stink that can range from cheese,
to corn-chips, to warm milk.
I LOVE IT.
I rub my nose on her.
TOUCH
5. Tell us about one of your most treasured possessions
Oh boy, this is a really tough question.
I try my best to not collect a lot of stuff!
I'm trying to think of what would make me most sad to lose if my house burned down.
I suppose some of them might be the books that I made in the fourth grade.
They are very short, strange little stories.
I went to an artsy fartsy grade school, and they had the parents come in to volunteer
and bind the books in cardboard and donated wallpaper.
One of the books is about a princess who locks herself up in a cave and lives happily ever after.
Pretty telling if you know me! Hahahah.
