Do I need it ? Do I love it ?

Spring is well and truly here
the sun has shone every day
and although there may be a trickle of rain
the flowers peeping out and the bright mornings
make for a much happier day and a healthier outlook.

Today ..... or rather this weekend
is going to be a very relaxed affair.

I feel I need to take stock of all that is going on
all that I have
and all that I do not need.

The joy of the Internet I find
is that I do not acquire clutter.

I have a habit of keeping everything just so
and if little items no longer fit in my home
they find their way into one of my shops
and lovingly head to a new abode.

My home is my haven
my retreat
and an extension of my heart.

It makes me happy to wake up in and return to after a long day.

I also work so many hours in it ..... it is a friend that knows my innermost secrets
senses my moods
and let's me relax.

So onto the day.

I plan to pop out and return and go through every drawer
cupboard
shelf
and repeat my mantra
' Do I need it ? Do I love it ? '
and being the storage queen I am .....
all items that do not fit the former or the latter
will be neatly tucked away
ready for placing into my shops
after a quick click of my trusty camera and a little staging.

It has only just occured to me in the last few weeks
that I wanted in my younger years to be a window dresser
and now
I feel I kind of am
my shop windows being your computer screens.

My shops are always open and all are welcome.

Nesting and Dusting

If you ever came into my home
you would know just how VERY tidy and clean I am !!!!!

To say I have OCD would be rather OTT
as I do not have any strange habits
and being tidy does not rule my life
but let's just say there kind of is a rule .....

Day One ..... Relax and Create one hell of a mess .....
usually due to experimenting with new creations
or having a total veg out, pig out and chill out

Day Two ..... Notice the 'One hell of a mess'
and remarkably add to it ten fold as I am usually too lazy to tidy up

Day Three ..... start to twitch ..... not literally
which leads me to go crazy and cleeeeean to my heart's content.

I have to say
I have a love hate relationship with my tidiness
and ride the wave of chaos until my nest is shining again
everything in it's place
yes ..... wardrobe colour co-ordinated and CD's on alphabetical order
and then I feel
calm

I do have one guilty pleasure
which is this stuff

 

I do tend to use rather alot
no idea why
it just makes everything feel and look so clean
and I promptly pop it in the recycling bin
so do not feel too bad ..... even though I am trying to use cloths more.

So before my indoor chores commence
I am off out to get some bits and bobs
and hunt for a vintage slip for my little sis
as she has asked me to cutomise a dress for her
kinda like merging a dress with a slip.

I cannot wait !!!!!
as this is my passion ..... reinventing garments
and in the new year with more time allowing I hope to do this more
and pop pieces into my Etsy Shop

I still have some vintage slips for sale like this one

   

and maybe on my travels today I will be lucky enough to find some more.

Chilled, Organised and The Sun is Rising

I think in life, to be honest, I am easily pleased

Give me some brand new note pads and a diary
brand spankingly new
a pen
with one of my favourite magazines for desert

I have taken AGES looking for the perfect books to carry in my bag

When popping to London the other week
I did look at Filofaxes in Paperchase
but they felt far too business like
and even though people keep telling me now that I am a business woman
in my head I am just little Dommie making and creating stuff

So on visiting Muji ..... there they were

Simple and functional
and I love them

I spent all last night relaxing whilst watching quite a rubbish film
sifting through old notebooks and scraps of paper

To be honest there was alot of scribble in them
but not anymore

All of the paper in now in the recycling bin
and all the nuggets of information are neatly entered into my new diary and notepad

Organisation is my passion, obsession and something I have to live with
as there is so much going on in my tiny brain there is no room for clutter

So ..... with a quick coffee by my side and a tune I love
The Beloved . Sun Rising
I am going to journey out into the day
and purchase some technical stuff

Hmmmmm not really my bid passion but I have the need for computer stuff
zzzzz
