Take Five Interview . Craig Fellows

Hello, I'm Craig Fellows a contemporary designer and maker of printed textiles for fashion

'Passionate about Colour and Print' is my bold statement ...
combining my fine art talents with my love of fashion prints and textiles

Using traditional, contemporary and digital printing techniques,
I transform my stunning illustrations into beautiful fashion and interior pieces,
silk scarves forming the core to my range

Each piece is designed, made and hand-finished by myself in the UK,
making every piece in my collection completely unique and can truly not be found on the high street

  

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

Whilst exhibiting at Made by Hand last weekend I met a fantastic your designer Michael Lomax
who makes the most whimsical paper cuts.

Whats even more amazing is that they are all done by hand,
not a single laser cutter in sight!

 

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011

I subscribe to YouTube channel 'Bands in Transit'

Taste - Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

I make a mean cottage pie and it always tastes better reheated the day after with fresh green beans... nom nom





Smell - What is your favourite smell this month ?

Pineapple... there is a specialist binder in textile printing used for flocks and foils that wiffs of them

 Bizare I know but it's my favourite smell right now

  

 



Touch - What home interior updates did you make this year ?
I've recently made space for more of my studio equipment in an attempt to be more organised.

hi everyone
i am kirsty patrick
a designer maker that loves interior spaces and the object within and around them

after meeting dommie at made in wales
i was delighted to be interviewed by her
and tell you of the things that are making me happy right now .....

 

 

What is the most inspirational thing you have seen this month ?

Well it wasn't this month
but when I was in London on the grand front entrance of the V&A
there was a beautiful structure sweeping out from the building
AL_A's 12m high 'Timber Wave' part of the London Design week,
I love the construction and the way the wood is left to do the talking

 

 

Tell us about a new tune/artist that have you been listening to throughout 2011 ?

I have been loving listening to chilled out Benjamin Francis Leftwich,
Ben Howard, Bombay Bicycle Club, Lemon Jelly, Michael Kiwanuka and Fink

 

Do you have any yummy recipes or food must haves you wish to tell us about ?

oh I have been enjoying making pies out of the Pieminster book.... the fishy ones are delicious

 

Smell - What is your favorite smell this month ?

You can't beet the smell of a log fire and I have been roasting many chestnuts like a little squirrel !
My fav perfume is Stella McCartney its beautiful I have worn it for years but never bore of it

Touch - What home interior updates did you make this year ?

Ummm this is a hard one to even start.... I move the furniture all the time!
My collection of furniture is getting rather large! I have a sort out at least every two months.
Its nice having a fresh feel and new look.
The walls are always white.... let the objects you love do the talking!

I am loving coffee scented candles right now. Hazelnut, Toffee Nut latte, .....

I am currently decorating my living room, just updating pictures and such
I'm making a huge wall of printed off instax images. :)

My Handmade Christmas Inspiration Collection

This year I am well and truly embracing the idea of revamping, creating and making for thoughtful gifts

A tricky year for the world
and that nasty R word - recession has really made us value stuff
clutter and the beauty and worth of the things we have

I lap up the paint treatments from
All the Luck in the World

Her use of turquoise is bliss
and I have a pot at the ready to give frames and shelves
heavenly updates

Upcycling the contents of my jewellery box is gonna happen

I have amassed so many beads and earrings that have lost their mate
not to mention tonnes of clips and findings

Kelly from I'm Your Present has really inspired me !!!!!

This ribbon trick is just genius

Wrap red and white ribbon around practically anything
to give you a simple, cheap, effective gift solution

My Number One Blogging Inspiration ..... and she will be in Interview Here Today !!!!! YAY !!!!!

Blogging is such a passion of mine
a little sanctuary, a place I can waffle to the world and my own creative hug

I tend to fall in and out of love versus utter obsession with blogging
and now I have found a natural rhythm
(I used to fret a little about blogging daily - the trick is to do it as and when time and inspiration allows)

I also find it is really important to keep a bank of bloggers at hand
that you can pop on over and read about
get excited for them and make them the catalyst to get your fingers typing and chatting

I tend not to admit to having number ones
at it can make the twos and threes etc seem like second, third best
BUT
If I had to take ONE blog to a desert island
with Depeche Mode, Photos, Haribo, Cheese and Nag Champa
I would  have to take the blog of

A five minute gift DIY - Perfect for Chrimbo

You know when you want to give someone a special gift
heck that is the way it should always be >.<
yet - you generally do not spend tonnes on each other
gift protocol is quite funny at times

Well - I as you know ADORE giving gifts
and the other day bought a dear chum
a hyacinth - the flower that she loves

It cost a few beans
and when I got it home - in it's gold plastic pot - yukky
I suddenly thought ...... hmmmmm ..... I know the perfect new home for it

One cup and saucer taken from my stash, ribbon and a wooden tag
two seconds of re-potting ..... and

Voila !!!!!

A super cute and thoughtful gift

- and guess what !!!!!

She loved it - and so did ALL the girls
so much so that they think I should go into production
and are asking/begging me to make more - te he !!!!!

That florists was a dream - maybe now it has naturally evolved into a reality

Made by Hand . Craft Fair . Tredegar House . Wales

Just made a little detour on the way home after doing all of my chores
and popped into Made by Hand

I was a little scruffy (but clean) for the occasion
everyone and everything was beautifully turned out
and Tredgar House that is on my doorstep was the perfect setting

I made tonnes of fab contacts
of whom I will be featuring here
and some super duper choices of Christmas Gifts for people

I recommend it to one and all
and it finishes tomorrow (Sunday) so do pop along if you can

I need a little snooze now (love my snoozes)

The Story of Two Little Poppets

There once were two little poppets

Lolly Bebs and Brendy Bobbins

There mummys are twinnys and they were born 5 days apart
and grew up so close ..... they were the cutest little pair

The little girl .....

grew up to be my fabby sister who I love with all my heart

and the little boy ..... one of THE BESTEST three cousins I could wish for

My sister has returned to the UK (yay!!!!!) from her travels to teach

and Brendy is now at the other side of the world having so much fun in Oz

Now they seem all grown up

Yet photos will keep wonderful memories of the past safe

Time flies by so quickly
but you two will always be the sweetest pair

Tonight I am keeping happy memories close to my heart
