Two reasons .....
Reason one Father's Day is always a bit of a tricky one for me it has happiness and sadness mixed in together and although I love to chat and chat on my blog - some things are a bit too personal to share
Reason two Someone VERY dear to me will also be finding this day tough and I just wanted to mark this post today with love, thought and tenderness and remember a man that sadly I never met yet - his qualities and character live on in one of the very most wonderful and beautiful people I have EVER met
I have been meaning to write about Mr Bub's and I's weekend away in Sidmouth
More and more these days I seem to leave my party animal (ways) at home and yearn for the bubbling, chilling, makeup less gal I have become and love the fact that I am more comfortable than I have ever been in my own skin and love that I have a person who is willing to spend time with me and not even care that I may look a little less groomed than normal and adore the fact that he does not even tell me that I look like S**TE !!!!!
I had so many favourite moments yet - I have to say - wearing my new 'Dommie' necklace that Mr Bubs gave me whilst there and eating THE most amazing lemon cake (with blueberries) was one of them
I had to tell the girl in the coffee shop - and I apologise for seeming to blaspheme - that her cake was better than my Nan's yep - HOW VERY DARE I SAY THOSE WORDS !!!!!
It was chuffing amazing
At some point on the weekend I had a jacket potato with purple coleslaw which just tasted WAAAAAY better
There were plenty of silly me (and him) photos
and surprise surprise - lots of vintage shopping
plus - it was my birthday while we were away and this year I wanted a really quiet one and it was just perfect
Mr Bubs showered me with the most personal gifts one in particular made me cry in a good way and when we returned to our room Pam and Mike at The Hollies suprised me by leaving me a gorgeous arrangement of flowers that I brought home with me and lasted so long which was so special as a lasting memory of our weekend
This super funny Fruit Buddha appeared today as a gift and it had lots of big kids (over the age of thirty) whooping, giggling and munching on nostalgic sweeties (the fruit needless to say was not touched)
It was such fun and it's creator Mr G who has been a professional creative for many years totally surpassed himself and I think that this is his best work to date .... he he ;)
I have put an order in for my 40th birthday Wedding - if ever I get married and Christening - if ever I have a kiddo and get the bubba Christened
I am afraid that whatever the occasion now I will be creating Fruit Buddhas and for someone who cannot cook and has creative fingers this will be my future in the kitchen
The seaside has always been a great lure for my family and I
We were often on Brighton Beach when I was little as my great grandmother lived there and I can remember - blowy chilly days on the beach and my mum trying to get me dry and warm with a towel wrapped around me in the billowing wind
I was given a name THE GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN BOTTOM as believe it or not - I was THE most shy little kiddy and I was so nervous of people spotting my botty as my mum tried to change me out of my swimming togs in what always felt like the most teeny tiny towel
Through years of happy visits to Brighton I studied then went to University there and then moved to Dublin - but the sea was never far from where we lived
My Nan as you know lives by the sea now - the sea is literally over the road as was in my latter days in Brighton and she always has a stream of visitors number one ..... obviously to visit her as she is THE BEST and it is extra fab to have such a brill setting to catch up, snooze, laugh and munch Nan's fab cooking
The last time alot of us were together Nancy Nooooo was there too and I just love the way that little ones make you see the places you take for granted in such a new magical light
Rock pools - full of little creatures
The smallest of waves - that take on a form of watery creatures creeping toward you to nip your toes and ..... QUICK !!!!! ..... JUMP !!!!!
and an expanse of sand that gives millions of miles to run castles, rives and cars to be made in it and lots of holes to be dug - that the seas come to wash away
( One hole I made got bigger and bigger and wetter and wetter and Nancy Noo is so tiny - she jumped in and got stuck She is the sweetest kiddy - she took it all in her stride and giggled at her disappearing legs )
With the sun out today I am planning some seaside action of the fleeting kind and then lots to do for the rest of the day
I hope that you have lots of magical things planned
