The seaside has always been a great lure for my family and I
We were often on Brighton Beach when I was little as my great grandmother lived there
and I can remember - blowy chilly days on the beach
and my mum trying to get me dry and warm with a towel wrapped around me in the billowing wind
I was given a name
THE GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN BOTTOM
as believe it or not - I was THE most shy little kiddy
and I was so nervous of people spotting my botty
as my mum tried to change me out of my swimming togs
in what always felt like the most teeny tiny towel
Through years of happy visits to Brighton
I studied then went to University there
and then moved to Dublin - but the sea was never far from where we lived
My Nan as you know lives by the sea now - the sea is literally over the road
as was in my latter days in Brighton
and she always has a stream of visitors
number one ..... obviously to visit her as she is THE BEST
and it is extra fab to have such a brill setting to catch up,
snooze, laugh and munch Nan's fab cooking
The last time alot of us were together
Nancy Nooooo was there too
and I just love the way that little ones make you see the places you take for granted
in such a new magical light
Rock pools - full of little creatures
The smallest of waves - that take on a form of watery creatures
creeping toward you to nip your toes
and ..... QUICK !!!!! ..... JUMP !!!!!
and an expanse of sand
that gives millions of miles to run
castles, rives and cars to be made in it
and lots of holes to be dug - that the seas come to wash away
( One hole I made got bigger and bigger and wetter and wetter
and Nancy Noo is so tiny - she jumped in and got stuck
She is the sweetest kiddy - she took it all in her stride and giggled at her disappearing legs )
With the sun out today I am planning some seaside action of the fleeting kind
and then lots to do for the rest of the day
I hope that you have lots of magical things planned
dommie
